Women's Meeting

Last Saturday was the first general Women's Meeting at the Conference Center. Because of my Grandma's connections, I am lucky enough to go to conference once or twice a year, and sit in amazing seats.

This year is no exception. My Grandma took myself, cousins Charlotte, Becca and Lindsey, Aunt Gayle and good family friend Amy. I am so glad I went, it was a great meeting.

Commercial shoot

Since I work for an advertising agency, I've been to a fair share of commercial shoots. One of our clients is a party supply store, and they happened to be doing a wedding themed spot. They of course needed a bride, and since I am a bride to be, that they know, and have a dress, I got volunteered as the bride in the commercial.

Even though my dress is about 3 sizes too big, we clipped it back and off I was. Since I don't want Aaron to see the dress yet, and he works, I brought my brother Spence to be the groom, I know kinda weird, but we didn't do any couple-y things luckily.... but he was given the name "brother groom" during the shoot.

Even though it was pink, I loved the decor!

Love these PLASTIC plates and silverware!

Giant balloons! Almost like beach balls... I am definitely going to have to get a few like this for my wedding.

AND........

My grandma found this picture of my parents on their wedding day yesterday :)
I am using my mom's beautiful wreath veil, I love it!

First Date

Aaron and I's first date is a little different than most... to start off, we met on Tinder. We both were a little sketched out by the fact that Tinder was sort of "online dating". It took a few different 'cool' people to convince me to get it. The same thing happened with Aaron, he was afraid Tinder was going to show up on his Facebook page.

After having Tinder for a few days, many guys had messaged me to start a conversation. I was getting a little overwhelmed by the amounts of convos, so I started to only respond to funny conversations. I wish wish wish Aaron and I would have saved our conversation, but we both deleted our Tinder accounts. His first message to me went a little something like this- "I think I love you and want to marry you, but how about we start with a date first?".

That definitely caught me off guard, but I was intrigued. I responded with a sarcastic comment back with something like- "a first date would probably be a good start eh?". He then responded that his friend got into his account and sent that crazy message out, but said I was pretty and that a date might not be a bad idea. We continued a little small talk and he soon asked for my number.

We did a little bit of texting, he asked to hang out, multiple times, but I was always busy, or it was late at night and I had work the next day. I wasn't expecting to set anything up, he lived far away and we never really got onto each others schedules, and I had been going out a lot, and had my eye on a few other guys.

After a while we found some time we could get together. He lived down in Provo at the time, and even offered to come up to Salt Lake. The fact that he would come up to Salt Lake for a first, and blind date blew me away a little bit slash seemed a little crazy.

Aaron came up to Salt Lake and I invited him in, we brainstormed a little bit on what to do since he he said he wasn't from the Salt Lake area. We ended up on deciding to go to Bruges Waffles & Frites. As we were deciding to go, my roommate was sitting in the living room with us, pitching into our conversation. Aaron asked if she would like to join us. She agreed. He didn't know my roommate then, and definitely didn't know she loves to include herself in things all the time. Later on when I made fun of him for inviting her, he told me it was a "home teacher invitation" where you ask to be nice, but know they people will say no. Oh contraire. Haha now he knows.

At that point I wasn't sure if he was even into me, because well he invited my roommate. We went to the waffle place though, and he immediately complemented me on my hair. He loves me with blond, blond long hair. He also remembers to this day that I was wearing white jeans. We ate yummy waffles and visited. After eating we drove home and dropped my roommate off. Aaron suggested we go feed ducks at a park. So off we went to buy bread and feed the birds at Liberty Park.

One thing that was so refreshing about Aaron was that he was so interested in me. He asked me so many questions and seemed genuinely interested. I felt like I could talk to him all night long. As we were walking back to the car when he grabbed my hand while we strolled past the ferris wheel in the warm June night air.

We got back to my house and turned on Modern Family. He got a call from his friend Trevor who had just ended a date in Salt Lake and wanted to stop by(tacky, I know to answer a phone on the first date), so Aaron just invited him over to my place. Very strange, since he didn't ask if it would be okay. During the whole date Aaron was mentioning how we should go follow Trevor on his date downtown, I thought he was so weird for mentioning this haha. Trevor came over and hung out with us for a bit. Super weird for a first date, but it was not a normal first date.

Trevor left and we continued watching Modern Family with us for a bit and left to head back down to Provo. We may or may not have kissed that first date. I wasn't expecting to kiss him at all, but some things just happen. As Aaron was leaving he wanted to come again the next night. I already had a date scheduled for the next night and politely told him I had plans. Plus I was a little weirded out that he wanted to do something soooo soon. But soon I learned that boy doesn't play games.

Lonestar Taqueria

Last Friday night we went to Lonestar Taqueria. It is becoming a new favorite, they have yummy chips and guac, and great tacos and burritos. Friday nights are definitely busy, the line stretched to the door. Soon a guy was making his way to the door through the crowd holding a child. He got to us and said "excuse me, you're gonna wanna move for this." and then..... blahhhhh the little boy spewed and threw up. They almost made it out, two steps and they would have been outside. Poor guy. It got on the dad and all over the floor.

Luckily it didn't really get on us. It splattered a little bit on Katie's(Spencer's date) shoe, but she took it like a champ and didn't freak out. She was awesome. We continued to wait in line and got our food. Now that I think about it, it's kinda gross we still ate there after we watched a little kid barf.......

Hill Running

Remember this post? Yesterday was the second time I went running outside this year. And it was just as, if not more brutal than the first time. Lately I have just been running a mile or two on the treadmill and doing a little bit of weights at the gym. Finally the weather is getting consistently better, yesterday was a gorgeous day.. 66 degrees!

I convinced Aaron yesterday that we should go running outside. He agreed and laid out a plan to run up the hill on 45th South and then along Wasatch for a mile and then turn around for a total of a two mile run.

Here was my thought process up the hill:
1. This weather is perfect running weather!
2. Wow this isn't as bad as I thought it would be...
3. Okay this is getting a little bit harder... but still definitely do-able
4. Oh man what was I thinking? I am only half-way up, help me!
5. I don't even care what I look like or my pace, lets just make it to the top
6. My lungs hurt
7. My lungs really hurt
8. Wait are my lungs on fire? Owww
9. This was a bad idea
10. My lungs really hurt
11. That little Reese's cup does not feel good
12. I am never eating again
13. My lungs really REALLY hurt
14. I am turning around
15. Screw it I'm walking
16. My lungs still hurt

Aaron caught up to me at the end and it turns out he was pretty much feeling the same way. We both agreed we need to start small and ease it up from there on our running, since we haven't been consistent lately. I'm thinking a flat one mile run this weekend.

ShOoTiNg the TuBe

Right about now the temperatures are creeping up and getting warmer. But I am dying for it to get even warmer, basically just waiting for summer to be here! Summer for me is full of shaved ice, swimming, running, star gazing and traveling. On top of all that, we discovered "shooting the tube". It has become a favorite. And I can't wait to go again this year.

At the mouth of Parley's Canyon there is a drainage pipe that goes under the freeway and leads out to a trail. The drainage pipe is fairly long and a very good natural waterslide! Check out this video, we didn't make it, but it shows how it works and how much fun it is.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W0Hzl_KCX2k

Basically you block the front of the pipe with some wood pieces so the water pools up. Everybody gets in the tube and then you let the wood pieces go and the water just pushes you down the pipe. It's good to be in the back of the train, since it's sorta a dog pile at the end haha! It's pretty cold water since it is runoff, but so worth it! The ride probably lasts a good 30 seconds, but make sure and bring a tube or something to ride on, because the tunnel has a little bit of a rough floor, but it's not too big of a deal.

Theee best picture of Aaron and his friends coming out at the end!

We had so much fun. Everyone up there that day was so nice, helping us block the water off, letting us borrow tubes and just basking in the sun. I love the group we went with! P.S. Shamu is not a good floatation device to shoot the tube on, everyone fell off of him in like the first second haha.

Can't wait for summer to be here again!

New neighbors

The new apartment in Holladay that Aaron and Spence(and soon to be me) can be a bit confusing to get to at first. Mainly because your iPhone and Google maps take you to the same south address on the street just west of it... and the street is very dark so it's hard to to see the numbers.

Both friends- Charlotte and Madi had a hard time finding the house that engagement night. Their stories range from funny to very creepy.

We'll start with Charlotte's. Charlotte and her husband Austin were told by Spence to just walk around the left side of the house, through the gate and down the stairs and just walk in the door. They got to the house and no one was really there so they played frisbee in the front yard. After playing frisbee for a while, Charlotte decided to go down to the apartment finally, so she went down and around the backyard and walked right in.

As she walked in she saw a dog right there so she turned around and ran back upstairs, because well, they/we don't have a dog. Haha she walked right into someone else's house! Luckily it was just a dog sitting there and not a person!

Now for Madi... correct me if I'm wrong Mad. Madi had though she had found the house, but couldn't quite see the numbers on the house, but saw a lot of cars parked on the street so she got out and walked to the gate on the left side of the house. She walked around and there she saw a torture chair! She said it had chains for feet and hands and a light hanging on top! Madi ran away, and I don't blame her, I would run as fast as I could if I saw a torture chair in someone's backyard too!

Turns out that was the neighbors across the street. How freaky. Maybe soon I will get brave to go check that out one of these days. Her mom told her she should probably report that.....

And that right there is the city of Holladay, who knew it was so sketchy?

Afterwards

The whole proposal was so sweet, I loved every minute of it, Aaron did such a great job! After the proposal we blew out all the candles, haha kind of sad cause they looked so good, but they had to go out eventually. We then face timed my parents, they of course knew all along, and were following along on the website.

They were so happy and of course I showed them the ring, although no pictures or video can do it justice, I showed my mom all angles of the ring. My grandma chimed in on the call and added that it will be fun at the party, and mentioned some of my friends that will be there. I was so confused.... grandma what are you talking about? None of our friends are here for a party, no one knows. She kept pushing it and I kept getting more and more confused! So she finally dropped it.

We left to go back to Aaron's place since he was so hungry and had food ready... he had been preparing allll day long for this. We got back and SURPRISE! There in the living room was Charlotte and Austin(best cousin and husband) and Madi(best friend)! I was so surprised! Aaron made this night the BEST! Shortly after Jake and Mary(Aaron's brother and sis in law who we hang out with all the time) and some of Aarons best buds came over and we BBQ'd. It was such a good surprise and so thoughtful of Aaron to get a hold of my friends and bring them all together, might have been my favorite part!

So we all ate, pulled the china out, talked and played games. It was such a good night! Wish I would have gotten a pic of everyone together :(.

The Proposal

Last night as we were watching the Bachelor finale (booo Juan Pablo), they were talking about proposals, how every girl looks forward to that day, and will remember it the rest of your life. Aaron leaned over and said "Are you going to remember our proposal for the rest of your life?" I said yes, of course! And here's how it happened.....

Every Saturday we have a tradition of making breakfast together. So just like every Saturday I went over to Aaron and Spencer's place and we made breakfast burritos. After breakfast we went to the gym, just a normal Saturday thing to do. Before we went to the gym Aaron mentioned that a friend from Logan was going to be in town that afternoon and they wanted to get together for lunch. He said that Spence and I should go eat lunch at Sweet Tomatoes while he was with his friend.

During that time Aaron also got a call from his friends in Provo wanting to hang out and go to the zoo with him that afternoon. Hahaha I still can't get over that 2 single guys wanted to go to the zoo and then wanted to invite Aaron. So  Aaron said they were all going to go to the zoo and that Spence and I should run errands and go eat lunch. I always want Aaron to hang out with his friends, cause he doesn't  see them as much since he lives so far away, and I never want to be that girlfriend or wife who just steals him away and his friends never see him again.

After running errands and eating at Sweet Tomatoes, Spence and I went back to their place and starting watching some TV. I was texting Aaron a little bit throughout the day, asked him if he was having fun, and when he was going to be back. As I was sitting flipping through channels, I got this text.

Then he sent a link to a website and this is what I saw.

Yes, we did meet on Tinder! Haha his family didn't know, so I think they finally found out. I never thought I would meet my future spouse through an app, but it definitely worked out for us, so you just never know!

After reading through this I thought to myself, hmmm something is definitely up, could this be it?
Aaron used the friend finder app and followed me the whole time through the scavenger hunt. When I got to Top It, he venmo'd me $10 for "frozen yogurt on me". Every time I got to a new place, he would refresh the webpage and a new tab was showing for me to read.

The froyo I got. Sat and ate all by myself :) and as I ate, this appeared.

I got to my church.... and the gates were closed and the parking lot was dark.

So I texted him and told him it was dark and scary, and he refreshed the page.

I drove the short drive to Gma and Gpa Jack's house.

And waited in the car, until this popped up.

Excited to be a part of the Pugh's! It's a very big family and will totally be an adjustment but they are always so nice and sweet. Shortly after this page came, this one soon showed up.

So I gladly sent this email and then....

I walked around and through the gate to this beautiful site

The first pic is a little bit blurry. But look at those candles! Sooo cool!

I followed the candles down and into the screen door and Aaron popped out! We were excited to see each other, hugged and talked a little bit about the scavenger hunt. And then, he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him! And I said yes and we were so happy!

Aaron told Spence he could come out of the bushes(haha) and my grandma came downstairs to congratulate us.

Happy happy day

Well it happened. I got engaged and couldn't be happier! It was a total surprise and super sweet. Aaron planned everything out perfectly. I don't even know where to start, there are too many funny, happy and crazy stories that encompass the engagement night.

I guess for starters... the ring!

I picked this ring out the first weekend of January, yep you heard right January! I have the tiniest hands/fingers ever. Apparently a size 3 1/4 is a very uncommon ring size... like very uncommon. So they had to special order the band from the manufacturer. So that took a longggg time. We also ordered the halo in rose gold, which they had to special order in as well.

After countless times of me bugging Aaron, asking him when the ring would come in, and 7 1/2 weeks later, it made it! Aaron was so sweet to let me choose exactly what I wanted for my ring- oval center diamond, rose gold halo, baguette stones on the side with pave diamonds on a skinny band.

Right after I said YES! Loved the candle path in the background!

I'd better space things out so these posts aren't too long.... more to come this week!

Moving

It seems like in the past few months Aaron has moved like 3 times.... oh wait he has haha! He's moved from his Provo house, to an apartment in Murray with a work pal to a town home in Murray to a basement apartment in Holladay- where he/we will stay!

We found a perfect one bedroom basement apartment in Holladay and love it. The living room is big, kitchen has plenty of cupboards and a washer/dryer, the bathroom has granite countertops and there are 2 storage rooms. We got away with a steal! Not to mention we included cable, so every time I go over there ESPN is always on.... always. Did I mention ALWAYS?

Spencer is awesome and moved in with him. He will be living there the next few months. They always talk sports together and love to eat pizza, so it works just fine.

Right now the apartment is pretty bare, you know the typical boy style- huge big screen tv because nothing else matters haha. There is a small couch that Aaron used to use as a pullout to keep his mattress on..... but they needed a couch to watch all that ESPN on. So now his mattress just sits on the floor.

And then my mom sent me this and I laughed because this is totally Aaron.

So right now we are looking for tables and chairs and couches and microwaves and wishing we didn't have to wait for toasters and more plates and cups and ice cube trays and blenders and fancy can openers. But we/they are getting by just fine.

And then Aaron sent me this text and I couldn't agree more.
