NYE

I'm not the type of person to make goals. Actually I never make goals. I take that back, I have set two goals for my life:

1. Go to college
2. Marry in the temple

I can check the college part off, so not too bad so far.

I decided though even though I'm not a new year's resolution's type of girl, there are two things I can do this year. Here they are:

2012

1. STOP shopping so much! I have tons of clothes, and I don't have any more closet space, plus my bank account can't afford it!
2. STOP speeding. I catch myself driving at least 5 over on city streets and sometimes 85 on the freeway. My limit is 70  on the freeway, and the speed limit every where else.

Feel free to call me out on any of these.

I'm gonna stay 18 forever....

So my little brother is turning 18 tomorrow. Pretty crazy if you ask me. I still feel like I'm 18 years old..... he can't be the same age as me.

When I was 18 I was a freshman in college, running around SDing with my girlfriends, staying out til 4 in the morning, sleeping out on the quad, rafting in the dark, and doing anything but focusing on school.

I'm gonna stay eighteen forever
So we can stay like this forever
And we'll never miss a party
cause we keep them going constantly
And we'll never have to listen
to anyone about anything
cause it's all been done and it's all been said
we're the coolest kids and we take what we can get

Basketball

It's basketball season once again. Three nights of camping out in below freezing temperatures, and pointless checking in, I went to watch Utah State beat BYU in their first home game of the season.

The Spectrum is pure magic. The tradition and pride for the Utah State men's basketball team is one of a kind. This year, instead of camping out the night before the BYU game (USU thinks that BYU is our rival, kinda pathet, but I'm okay with disliking BYU) students starting camping out outside the Spectrum Tuesday for the Friday night game. Pretty redic. But that's the loyalty of Utah State fans.

This is what it looked like outside the Spectrum! Over 1400 students camped out that week to get a seat to watch the Aggies beat BYU! Craziness. Luckily for my group we stayed super warm with tons of sleeping bags and about a foot of blankets on top of us.
The best part was that the Aggies won 69-62.

Trunky

3 1/2 years. Another one bites the dust. Winter in Logan. The joys of working for free- or close to it. Aggie athletics. Group projects. Upcoming holiday season. Trunky.

Fall

The leaves are starting to change all over up here in Cache Valley. Here's what I've been up to in the past couple of weeks....

  • Charlotte and I tried to go on a date, it was unsuccessful as usual.
  • Utah State just keeps breaking my heart in football.
  • I found out I am allergic to septra, and had hives the past week, not comfortable at all, but my zits are gone!
  • Watched the U SPANK BYU!
  • Earth. Fruit. Yogurt.
  • Made an I love Chuckie shirt. It's legit I promise.
  • Homecoming paint dance yeyah!
  • Feel like a total idiot almost everyday I go to work and hope they don't fire me when they realize how computer challenged I am
  • Lately I've been eating power bars like they are granola bars, haven't seen any effects from it so far.... hopefully it's okay??
  • Roller-bladed in the rain, it's okay, we're Aggies.

Internship

Since I've been back up to school in Logan(it's my last semester yahoo!) I have started an internship(paid this  time yahoo!) with Boomerang Leads. Boomerang Leads specializes in search engine optimization for realtors around the country.

In the past week I have been working on adding content to http://orangecountycaliforniarealestate.com/. It's been really interesting learning about all the cities in the OC, reading about how the temperature never goes under 60, even in January makes me wanna move there!

Auburn

Good things about the Auburn v. USU game
-We won 56 1/2 out of the 60 minutes
-Utah State Scored first!
-Utah State kept scoring
-I started a cheer
-Jordan Hare Stadium was pretty dang quiet
-Chuckie is my new hero

Bad things about the Auburn v. USU game
-We lost, prettymuch the only thing we did wrong

Mount Olympus

Today was must first and last time I will hike Mount Olympus. We went early this morning,  luckily we were in the shade the whole way up. I didn't want to drink much so I didn't have to go to the bathroom, but I ended up drinking two water bottles! The way up was super hard straight up and rockyyy. It made me totally feel like a wuss... I felt like I was always asking to stop and rest.

At the top! There was a huge drop off right behind us. NBD.

My feet afterwards, I seriously looked like a black person!

The top was super sweet, you had to boulder up a ways to make it to the peak. I signed the book up at the top too! My favorite part was the double BIG gulp at 7-11. I don't think I will be hiking for a while.....

Weddings

3 weddings in the past week. Reminds me I want a wedding, not a marriage.

Friday was Megan Bevan's in someone's backyard in Bluffdale. Her colors were lime green and bright pink. Summer weddings outside are so fun. She had ice cream sundaes and an old antique car parked in back. She looked great of course.

Tuesday was Chasilyn Shook's. Xanni, Madi and I drove up to Salt Lake to go see her come out of the temple. We made it just in time! Between the ceremony and the luncheon we visited Nelson's Frozen Custard... delish. The luncheon was at a friend's backyard in Bluffdale. It was great until I got sick and curled up in a ball and rocked myself on the side of the house for an hour... #embarrassing.

Thursday was my cousin Charlotte's. We waited and waited in the temple waiting room for them to come out. They finally did. She was so happy. The luncheon was at the Joseph Smith Memorial building on the 10th floor. It was beautiful! She played a song on the piano for her new hubby Austin. The reception was at the Draper Historic Park, it was a great venue. The weather was perfect. And they had snow cones there so gooood. I caught the bouquet too! Haha 2 years in the making with the help of Madi using her lacrosse skills boxing out :)

So I think I'm done with weddings for a while. As Madi McCleary put it.... I think my wedding will be anti-clamatic(I don't know how to spell the word, but you know what I mean.)

Summer SummEry

Crashing a wedding. Riding the ferris wheel with my 80+ year old grandma. Acting like an 18 year old again at an institute party. Top it. Putting cups on a freeway overpass, check. The traditional SDing night with the girls. Jarvin calling, and calling, and calling. Segway tour in DC. Ensign peak 4 or 5 or maybe 6 times, I can't remember. Sushi, wasabi and soy sauce. Top it. Fetaling. Redneck river running. So sick of airplanes. Are you in the Singlesward? Drive in movie. Top it. Shopping. DC CUPCAKES. Weddings.Leftovers. The Bachelorette. I didn't know kneeboarding, wakeboarding and tubing would make you so sore. Top it. Kassing Andrews Advertising. Backyard hammock. Gepetto's. NBD. Running Wander. Top it. 9th and 9th. Discovering Salt Lake. AC.  Almost got spanked by a train. Pinterest. House-sitting. Top it. Touched a sting-ray. Boutiques.

Sweet Home Alabama

"Sweet Home Alabama"
-The name of the classic song
-The new TV series of the Redneck Bachelorette
-Great place to visit

Memorable moments of Alabama last week
-Redneck river running, I think my parents and Madi and I were the only sober ones on the river
-The typical little black boy in a a white wife beater sitting in the fountains in downtown Atlanta
-Diet Coke!
-Dancing in line at the roller coaster, while the worker was laughing at me... what do you expect, I'm white
-Dear Jarvin, please stop calling me
-Killer sales at the factory outlets!
-You can never get enough frozen yogurt

Top that!

Is it bad that this is one of my favorite places ever?

Is it bad that I go here at least once, sometimes twice a week?

You only live once....

And now that I'm 21 I could be doing a lot worse than going out for frozen yogurt!

Ridin & hikin

Ensign Peak for the 4th time this summer with my sissy!

Actually convinced Gma V to ride the ferris wheel with me so I wouldn't be lonely :)

Leftovers again?

For some reason, I have always avoided leftovers. I don't know why but I would rather throw my food away than save it and pack it away in the fridge for another round. Call me crazy but it's just not my style to eat your food til it turns brown...
Lucky for me Grandma Jack is queen of leftovers. I don't even know when the first meal even happened for the leftovers to even come to life... but no matter what, we have smorgesbourg every week. So just when I have started to embrace leftovers, I have seen Grandma Jack scrap mold off food and then put it back in the fridge... I don't know if I even wanna stick with the first meal anymore.

Just my luck....

I have the worst luck with cars. In the past month I have:
Fixed the AC
Had a flat tire
Got new tires
Had a lady run into my parked car while I was at the gym... scraping paint off the side.

Yes... Aliens

Even though it has been about five years (wow I'm getting old!), and sightings have since declined my mother still tells people Madi and I are crazy about aliens. Even though we have had few sightings since starting college, I'm still a believer.
Yes it is true that we met a guy named Abe Leon.
Yes it is true Abe was 17 years old and lived by himself.
Yes it is true that Abe had sketchy scars on his face.
Yes it is true we talked about aliens on the morning announcements in high school.
Yes it is true we dedicated a tree to aliens at girls camp.
Yes it is true we were almost in tears in Madi's circle one night looking up at a blinking red light.
Yes it is true we heard strange noises while laying on my tramp one night while none of the neighbors were out.
Yes it is true that we were voted most likely to be abducted by aliens our senior year.
Yes it is true I have an alien ID Xanni bought at Dollar Tree when we were in Seventh grade with the name reading A. Leon.
Yes it is true that we saw aliens in the Garden Lodge Parking Lot (GPL).
Yes it is true we chases an alien down all the way from IHOP.
Yes it is true that nobody still believes.
NBD.

5 Airports, Cupcakes and Museums.... The District of Columbia

Things I learned in D.C.
-Just because a big black guy is dressed in orange prison garb does not mean he is a criminal
-Georgetown cupcakes is delicious!
-Maryland should be called the Land of Mary
-Everywhere I go in the back east, fireflies try to avoid me
-I am part owner of the Hope Diamond- the world's biggest blue diamond

The past week I visited Washington D.C. It took 16 hours, 4 meal vouchers, 2 $50 travel vouchers, 2 airports and 5 states to get there... NBD.

Most of the trip was walking around the National mall visiting the monuments and all the Smithsonian Museums. There was so much to see there! It was a good refresher on my history and more. I didn't realize how many monuments are in that area!

The Capitol

 Thomas Jefferson Monument

Lincoln Memorial

Smithsonian Museum of Modern Art

Arlington Cemetery

We went to Georgetown Cupcakes (aka DC Cupcakes on TLC) it was in a super cute part of town, and they were even filming when we went in! I was bad and actually ate a few cuppycakes, cause well, i figured it's a once in a lifetime thing, and they were sure yummy!

The Holocaust museum was heart wrenching, the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier humbling, the Smithsonians dizzying, the White House defenseful, and the Washington Monument very visible.

Best part of the whole vacation though- cruisin' around the mall on segways!

YeYah!

Today ate 2 bagels from Einstein's, yikes!

Today I woke up at 7:20 for the 14th time this month... definitely a new record.

Today I went to Dollar Tree for the first time in forever... yeah it's still ghetto.

Today I wore my awesome alligator high heels.

"Are you currently looking for a boyfriend?"

Summa finally!

It's finally feelin' like summer! It's been a pretty easy week transitioning from school. I moved down to Holladay last Friday for the summer. In the past week I've been to Cafe Rio 3 times, Market Street twice and McDonald's twice... wow.

My parents were in town Friday for my bro David's graduation so we just hung out and went to Market Street for the first time. I like that place because they give you smaller serving sizes so it's harder to overeat!

I started my internship Monday at Kassing Andrews Advertising. The first day is always weird, but so far its been pretty good. They have been super nice and the office is cute and modern and has a gumball machine :). I feel bad cause I'm in someone's office like every hour asking what I can do, I hate just sitting there being bored.

So far I've just been putting contact lists together, learning about billing, helping set up some proposals and just doing some odd filing and other things. Tuesday was kinda cool. I went to Market Street for the second time for a luncheon with the partners. It was for all the people who advertise with KSL for BYU sports. The BYU football coach and basketball coach were there and talked for a little. I got a BYU gift bag ha. Would have been cooler if I were a cougar fan but oh well.

Midnight 5k

Every year at Utah State there is a midnight 5k during "A" week. Well my roomie and I ran it last night. It was tons of fun. We were so lucky to have nice weather- no rain! It started at midnight, an awesome time to run I might add. Not many cars or people out to watch you, which I definitely like. The race started at Old Main and looped around our small campus.

We ran the whole way, I was pretty impressed by our time... 26 minutes! We were sorta at the end of the group, but I'm sure they were all hard core runners :) so I though we weren't shabby for not training at all! The best part was the blow up bouncy slide that was the finish line, it was the ending obstacle, genius idea!

Here's pics of us getting ready to run... my eyes look super creepy in the first pic ahhhh.

Definitely Technology Challenged

Oh man! So welcome to my new blog. I can't seem how to figure out how to get into my old one- maddythejack... so here's my new one, hopefully I can remember the email address and password! :)

Summer is coming up sooo soon! Two and a half weeks and then finals and I'm out for the summer! If only summer would come! Spring in Utah is a mess.... Hopefully by July the weather will start acting normal. This summer I am moving back to Salt Lake after being in Logan for 3 years strait. Love little Logan, but I am definitely ready for a change, I miss the city, as much as you can call the Salt Lake valley a city ha. I'll be closer to all my good friends from high school to, way excited to play with them.

I found an awesome internship with an advertising firm in Murray. I get to work 40 hours a week for free, lucky me!! So in consequence of that I am moving in with my grandparents in Holladay. Ha ha it'll be fun though, no roommates for a while too. I think it will be good experience though, the firm seem to have a bunch of clients and it seems like a super fun environment. Hopefully I can learn some sweet tricks with computers and all cause I am horrible with that kind of stuff, I seriously avoid technology stuff at all costs. Oh man I am growing up... scary.
