Cabin time

We finally got to Aaron's favorite time of the year..... which is any time we get to go to my family's cabin up in Kamas.
 Hello cabin.
Fishin at the fishin hole. Jake and Aaron went fishing 4 times over a two day span. I think it's safe to say they're obsessed.
Driving into town to get ice cream aka "medicine" every day, except Sunday.
Pretty fall foliage e-v-e-r-y-w-h-e-r-e. Such a beautiful world we live in.
Obsessing over the trout at the fishery.
Jake and Aaron were in heaven.
Fishing on the bridge. I kept thinking I caught a fish, reeled it in, then realized it was a tricky tree branch.
Trying to catch the mouse that lives in piano every night. They got so close.
Eating the fish Aaron and Jake caught.
Spending time with Madi and Gavin before baby comes. Walking around the island but mostly eating lotsa food and treats and playing UNO.

And then all of a sudden Fall was here

Hi Fall.

I wish I could welcome you with open arms like most girls do.

I wish I could say I love pumpkin flavored anything.

I wish I loved the crisper, cooler weather.

BUT instead I'm sad because you take our flowers away from us.

You make nights get darker sooner.

You steal my husband away with your endless football games.

You close all the pools down.

You leave us with no holiday time off until Thanksgiving.

You see Summer is one of my favorite things in the entire world. It's hard for me to part each year.

Although... I do love crunching your leaves under my feet and you sure are pretty to look at and you bring out candy on Halloween and you are stepping up your game with the summer like temperatures lately and you make it acceptable to to drink lots of hot chocolate.

So I guess I'll take what I can get for now while I dream for Summer to come back around again. But I still think your season is really REALLY pretty!

Haircuts, hiking & hooking fish

Almost two months ago for Aaron's birthday I got him a men's hair cutting kit. He wanted to save money and have me cut his hair.

Almost two months later I finally convinced him I was capable. Really he said "you're lucky I care about money more than my hair." I had buzzed my brother's hair before so I thought I was capable. When I started Aaron's hair I got a little bit nervous... but soon shook it off.

Half an hour later I did it, I still need to practice, but it doesn't look too bad. I've been trimming it with scissors ever since to get a few stray hairs I missed, but I got most of it. A few more times of practice and I might not be half bad.
Also burgers, fries and shakes at Iceburg= Yummmmm!

I've been wanting to hike the Living Room with Aaron all summer long. I finally convinced him to go with me, it was also Madderday so...
View from the top!
 Pretty plants along the way.
Following the leader the leader the leader. We were watching our landlord's puppy Mika over the weekend and decided to take her with. She was a trooper.
Fall is here!
It's called the Living Room because people have arranged the rocks into arm chairs at the lookout point, pretty neat.

I don't know if the hike was harder and steeper than I remember, or if it was the burgers and fries we ate right before. Either way it's still a fun hike, 2.70 miles round trip. It's a little rough on the way up since it's mostly uphill, but the way down is a breeze! The trailhead is up by the U, right by Red Butte Gardens.

After hiking, we drove over to Daybreak lake to do some fishing. Aaron is just love love loving fishing right now, and since I've never caught a fish, he wanted to be there while I caught my first one.

He even put the live worms on the hook and cast the line out for me. I got lots of bites and a little too excited reeling it in, only to come up empty handed.
And then Jake helped me and let me pull his fish in. So this is the closest I've gotten, although I'm sure I'll keep fishing a little bit more.

Four months

Today marks four months since Aaron and I got married. I texted Aaron happy 4 months to us! His response was "haha 4 months... we are babies". We definitely are babies in the marriage category, but everyday we are learning and growing just like babies do.

I'd say these past four months have been a 97% walk in the park. The other 3% has been filled with learning to combine our two very different upbringings, adjusting our spending habits, teaching housecleaning expectations, ascertaining each other's communications styles and sharing.

Although we don't agree on everything and have small arguments and different perspectives, the 97% park walking overshadows any doubt or fear. Times when we stay up late talking until 1 am- even when we have work early in the morning, or when almost every text we send that day says I love you, watching a reality tv series together each week while discussing the suspense and characters, surprise lunch dates, the feeling of not ever wanted to end a hugging embrace, going to the temple together, feeling butterflies while waiting for him to come home from work, seeing him sacrificing for me, vacationing together, watching him start a career he loves and just plain old spending time together. It's things like that that make me excited for eternity.

Cheers to the weekend!

Weekends are my favorite, no work to worry about, late nights, sleeping in and hanging out with friends. This weekend was no exception. Madi and Gavin came up to hang out with us Friday night, we had big plans to go hiking and go to dinner, we ended up playing Uno and getting half priced appetizers at Applebee's. Still a fun night though!

On Saturday one of my old roommates from Logan got married over the weekend so we got to drive up to Logan to go to her sealing and reception!
All my U2 girls + baby Kaleb

The bride!
Visiting our old apartment :)
Had to get some Aggie ice cream in between the sealing and luncheon.

Loved having an excuse to go up to Logan, it was a lot of fun driving around town, seeing old friends and going to the wedding!

And this boy sure was happy because he got to fish all day.
After I got home from the wedding, we zoomed over to the Real game.

Great seats, great win, great company, GREAT weekend.

This boy

I LOVE this boy!
This boy came home straight from work to come to spend the night at a 2nd cousins wedding with me and my grandparents last night, and he doesn't even like going to receptions.
This boy is a saver, not a spender, yet still lets me buy the things I want like snow cones and clothes and Cafe Rio AND surprises me with venmos.
This boy worked overtime for 3 months straight so he could pay for my wedding ring.
This boy watches Aggie games with me, even when the Aggies let me down.
This boy runs crazy races with me.
This boy goes to the temple with me.
This boy buys crazy expensive plane tickets for Alabama with me, because it's important to me to visit my family for Thanksgiving.
This boy has spa nights with me, puts on mask and relaxes.
This boy comes to my work events and supports me in my career.
This boy is always happy happy happy!.... and silly :)
This boy is the love of my life, and I'm such a lucky girl to have him!

Labor Day Bust

Labor Day weekend was a bit of a bust for us. You see Aaron has been counting down the days to go down to the family cabin in the Uintah's. He had planned on fishing, barbequing, hanging out with friends and enjoying the mountains. So we packed up and drove on up, only to discover it wasn't our weekend. We definitely found out the hard way, walking in on my cousins unpacking for the weekend. We headed back up to get some cell reception. After looking at the schedule multiple times we were sure it was our weekend, and their mistake. One final check made my stomach turn.... I was the wrong one.

Back down the canyon to Holladay we drove and Aaron washed his sorrows away with some Applebee's nachos. It's definitely not a good feeling when you know you ruined everyone's weekend plans. We'll be back in two weeks though when it's our official weekend, no doubt the leaves will be prettier then anyways.

Since Aaron and Jake had their mind's set on fishing, they fished their little hearts out at Lake Blanche all Saturday long and came home happy boys. Mary and I had a Friday Night Lights marathon, I think we watched the whole second season that afternoon[insert embarassed face emoji].

It was a pretty uneventful holiday weekend. The rest of the days were spent making Swig cookies- they turned out delicious by the way! I will be making those a little too often I think.
Swimming at the pool, I think fishing made Jake a little worn out :)
Eating pizza at the nearby park
Aaaand enjoying the last few sunny summer skies left
RIP Summer 2014.
