Sun Valley

We have definitely had a lack of vacations here.

Luckily enough, my grandma let us use her Sun Valley time.

We took the long 5 hour drive up north. Spence and Lexi came for a bit and our friends Logan and Anna made it for a Sunday night BBQ.

I haven't taken any time off all year, besides a day here or there. So it was nice to detach from work.

We spent the days swimming, eating ice cream, watching the ducks, going on walks, visiting town and stopping by the parks.

Downtown Ketchum after some sunset ice cream

The famous Sun Valley barn

The prettiest landscaping ever. Reminds me of Europe

A different kind of summer

My favorite month of the year is here! I tell Aaron that all the time. July just makes me happy.

No sports on TV.

Hot weather and warm nights.

Snow cones and ice cream on repeat.

The 4th of July and 24th of July holidays.

Birthdays.

We've been taking what we can in stride with Covid restrictions still in place.

Wearing masks everywhere in public.

Getting takeout.

Going on lots of walks and playing in the yard.

This summer is a lot different than I was hoping. Last year I dreamed of splash pads and pools. Friend get togethers and BIG birthday parties. Parades and events and more.

... But we are still alive, happy, healthy and safe, which is all we could ask for.

So for now we'll continue with our walks, small get togethers, Facetime calls and ice cream runs. Because lets be real, getting a toddler out and about it more work than you think!

Also in the past few months, we've had a socially distant baby shower for Lexi, went to the zoo a few times, cousin Cal was born, family came into town for the 4th and we've been on a few hikes. Photo dump below.

April quarantine

Another month of quarantine down.

Life hasn't been too dramatically different. Just missing going to restaurants, seeing friends more often and missing our trip to the Netherlands, Belgium and France.

Other than that, life isn't too much different.

We are lucky Berkeley is in the stage she's in.

Our nanny is still coming.

We still have our jobs.

Couldn't ask for anything more.

Speaking of working.....

Aaron and I have a little work station set up in our bedroom so Berkie can have free reign of the house. But she sure loves plopping on our laps and watching us work.

Summer is almost here and this little thing sure loves playing in the water!

We are frequenting the front lawn and my grandma's house, and that baby sure loves playing on the lawn.

We've also frequented Chick-Fil-A, the local drive in burger joint Woody's and Cafe Rio.

We Facetime my parents often.

Aaron and his friends are working on our yards(yes 3 of them ugh!) so our yard is slowly getting better and I'm loving it.

The rest of our time is spent playing or talking about that sweet baby.

Here's to hoping things get better!

Baby B is ONE! & Quarantine life

Our sweet little Baby Berkeley is ONE!

She is so fun to have around, and we can't imagine life any other way!

Her birthday was a little.... okay a lot different then we had planned.

It fell on a Friday, which was perfect since Fridays are my days off work.

My parents were supposed to be in town.

I had planned to take her to get pizza, go swimming or see the butterflies at Thanksgiving Point and play with Grandma and Grandpa.

Well plans changed. Dramatically.

I still look forward to that day when it's safe to fly again and my parents can come visit and we can do all those activities.

Instead we played at home under quarantine.

Opened presents via facetime(hard to juggle helping opening presents, responding and balancing the phone) and ate homemade cake.

Berkeley is our little scooter. Crawling very little, scooting and lot, and standing and pulling herself up all over the place.

She is the happiest little thing. Loves eating noodles, peas and freeze dried yogurt pieces.

She loves being around other people and kids especially.

Reading books captures her attention and flipping the pages herself is an old accomplishment.

Pulling herself up and walking along couches, tables and walls is an easy task.

Any day she could start walking.... but until then she continues to fuss when we try to get her to practice walking. She is quick to let us know the ball is in her court.

She mostly sleeps through the night and is drinking whole milk nowadays.

We are homebodies to begin with, but even quarantine has me longing for our old life.

Coronavirus has hit the world in a way we could have never imagined, or ever even dreamed of.

Airports are empty, parking lots desolate and uncertainty rampant.

It's so hard not to be scared. In fact, the first week of quarantine, I was hardly eating and stressed out. My back and shoulders were holding all my stress which felt like 100 lbs. of weight crushing down on me.

But the more information I've read, the more I've gotten into this new work from home routine, the more inspirational messages from the church, and the more fervent personal prayers I've had.... the stress has eased.

Uncertainty still exists, but now we just take it one day at a time.

I still mourn our prior life. Yesterday we cancelled our Europe trip.... yes the one that was specifically meant for this time of year to see the tulips.

But, it's fun to have something to always look forward to, no matter if we know the date or not.

We are staying positive, eating lots of takeout, doing a lot of facetime and marco polo calls and hoping for sunny weather so we can go on plenty of walks.

Taking a moment to update and recap the year.

We are slowly getting back on a routine here after all the holiday festivities.

Berkie is growing more and more each day. Can't believe she is 9 months already!

We had the best Christmas. All my family was in town. We played lots of Chamelon, Left - Right - Center, ate plenty of treats and shuffled sweet little Berkie around all over. More about Christmas in December below.

Dwindling Summer

And just like that summer is slowly rolling to an end! Aaron and I love summer so much... I wonder all the time why we don't live in St. George or Arizona..... maybe one day, but we sure are sad to see the light, long summer days dwindle away.

Until then, we'll hang on tight with both hands for as long as we can to the last rays and warm summer days.

Here's a quick update on what we've been up to...

We got our family pictures back from our July shoot... loving them, but also can't believe how fast baby B has grown already!

Snow cone life... yes please!

I feel like we've been going to weddings nonstop this summer! Aaron had 2 nieces get married, and I had 3 cousins get married.
DaddyG came into town for one of the weddings. Poor guy watched Berkie for half a day and she cried the whole time. And anytime he'd try to hold her, she just screamed. So the one time for 10 minutes that she was happy, he took advantage and we had to take a picture(post diaper blowout :/)

We visited our friends Logan & Anna and their little family in Twin Falls over Labor Day weekend. We just hung out, visited the falls, ate, Anna did our hair and played. It was a fun break!

Talking with GG
Rest stop break... look at that little elbow dimple! #chuglife
The sweetest little thing. She is happy 99% of the time. Always smiling and happy. If she's not she's not happy, she is just hungry or tired... or wants a little bit of attention... we are so blessed with a healthy, happy baby!

AZ

We had the best little vacation to Scottsdale over our birthdays.

I finagled my work schedule a bit since we have Pioneer Day and our birthdays off so that it all lined up and we could leave town.

It was our first trip with Baby B and I'd call it a success.

Just on the learning curve of traveling and packing with a baby.

We flew out of Provo and into Mesa. Berkie was pretty good on the plane. A little fussy when we first got on, but zonked out pretty quickly after going and coming. #blessed

Arizona in July is not for the faint of heart... but we survived.

I think the lowest temperature I saw was 89 degrees... and that was at 4 in the morning!

So a lot of our time was spent indoors eating, hanging at our cozy Air Bnb, swimming(even that was too hot) and shopping.

 TACOS!

 Cuties swimming
One of my favorite pics... dying how she's holding her little piggy
 Shake Shack FTW
 Palm tress never get old

Trying new foods! Slowly getting her pureed foods and juices. She loved sucking the orange. Also I loved going to Sweet Tomatoes
 Pool bb
 Happy 31 to Aar!

 ....And 29 to me!

Can't wait for our next vacation next month!
