Easter 2016

I am learning to appreciate and enjoy Easter more for the reason instead of the season. Last night we had a small Family Home Evening at my Grandma's house. We took turns reading a talk about the resurrection and this quote jumped out to me

"The most influential events in history are those who affect the largest amount of people for the longest period of time."

It fit perfectly with the Atonement and the Resurrection as it is by far the biggest event that ever happened and every will happen in the history of the world and eternity. So thankful for that knowledge.

We started our weekend off dying eggs and playing Uno with Madi and Gavin... girls won :)

Saturday morning was rough... we had a 10 mile run, but luckily we made it!
We have started to run on the Jordan River Parkway trail and it is so much better than running in neighborhoods. No worry about watching cars, waiting to cross the street, and the scenery is 10x's better! And I know my time's not amazing but I am so proud of myself for getting under a 9 minute mile consistently!

The Easter Bunny made a visit to our house... twice!

Spencer and Lexi hid a bunch of eggs around our house for us to find. Cute Aaron never had Easter baskets or egg hunts besides the community hunts as a kid. So this was all brand new to him.
He loved it, and I can't wait til we can do the same for our kids one day.

Wiped Out

I don't know if it's the half marathon training, work, or just my body.....

But I have been absolutely exhausted for the past 3 days straight. I have gone to bed at 9:30, and even 7:30 some of these nights, but I still am so exhausted all day long.

Last night I was fast asleep in bed when Aaron came home from playing ball. I woke up and was suddenly so insanely hungry. Luckily Aaron was too and immediately suggested Subway. Unfortunately it was 11 o'clock at night, and I couldn't even open my eyes.

So the boy threw me a bag of cereal which I ate with my eyes closed why lying in bed barely awake. After a few handfuls I was fast asleep.... just to be awakened by sweet Aaron chomping away at the cereal after getting out of the shower.

Is It Spring Yet??

This I'm always antsy for warmer weather to roll around. March is a tricky month. It'll give you hope with a warm 70 degree Saturday.... just to wake up to snow in the morning. Mother Nature just takes a few weeks/months to make up her mind.

Until warmer weather comes to stay, I'll soak up what I can and grin and bear it.
I was especially happy because Saturday was perfect weather for our loooooooong 8 mile run. So warm that we even got a bit sunburnt. Even though I legit wanted to die about 50 times during our run, I am glad it gets me out to enjoy the weather.
We laid out on the grass in our backyard and it is starting to turn so green... we'll see how long it lasts... I was happy to see flowers blooming. I am dreading doing yard work and will try and put it off as long as I can... without being "that neighbor". Pretty sure we'll crack pretty soon... weeds are growing, grass is getting watered.... oh the joys of being a homeowner.
Here's to another week of running and trying to sneak all the Easter candy past Aaron!

Hello March

March has kicked off to a great start. The weather has been nice and sunny and making me wish more and more spring was here to stay.

Aaron and I decided to sign up for a half marathon and have started training already..... as much as I hate training, it does the body good to get out in the fresh air and get the blood pumping!

We have a tradition of watching the Bachelor every Monday night with Spence and Lexi. They are the best guests because they always bring treats... donuts, chips and cheese, cookies, you name it.... all we do is supply the Diet Coke.

My work had a retreat up at Snowbird... which included skiing. I literally haven't been in 10 years.... and as luck would have it we started with the tram. You better believe I pizza wedged my way down that mountain! One day I will learn to ski normal, but until then pizza for life.

I forgot how sore I would be after skiing, but the views were definitely worth it!

Today marks 2 years since Aaron proposed. I can't believe how quickly time flies! We've had good times and bad, but I'm glad we've stuck around for them all.

Utah FTW!

I love that Aaron is from Southern Utah... because it means we get to visit regularly! There is no better time than traveling down south in February... we left behind the winter blues and soaked in sunny St. George!

We had such a blast and I'm so glad Madi and Gavin came down with us! Our first morning stop was Bear Paw obviously.... best breakfast in town. We brought our niece and nephew with us since we missed our nephew's birthday party that afternoon. Note to self... opt for an ice cream run with little kids next time. I'm sure our waitress was going nuts, had to return a drink and meal, and then ask for another refill. Aaron was so embarrassed, but it was still fun.

Aaron went to go do some business with his parents so the rest of us spent the afternoon at Zion National Park. Zion is one of my favorites... with such pretty views, blue skies and lots of hikes it's hard to stay away.

We hit up the Canyonview Overlook.

Took an ice cream break.

Visited the Emerald Pools.

Snapped pictures every moment I could get.

With the weather so warm, we took my grandpa's old convertible out for a spin. Little Owen loved it, and we even took it to church.

The rest of the afternoon we spent up by Dixie rock. We hiked up the small crack in the slot canyon and climbed up to Dixie rock. The view was gorgeous and the weather perfect.

It was such a great little getaway! I love Utah!
