Cuscotopia

First stop in Peru was Cusco (after Atlanta, and then overnight in Lima). Cusco is high up in the Andes... like  11,000 feet in elevation high. Even though the elevation is 4k in Salt Lake, I was a little worried about the difference. 

Luckily we went to the travel center beforehand because at night the elevation hit me and I had a hard time breathing, but was back to sleep quick with the magic medicine... phew! 

We did a quick tour that night to see the main square and learn about those genius Incans. Such a pretty city.

 Just like Europe, there was gelato everywhere. Mango and Strawberry don't mind if I do.... 

Hello Utah! The Incans carved these rocks out like legos so they fit together perfectly, and then sealed each with melted metal in between the cracks. 

Cutest little boutique hotel we stayed at near the Cuzco town square. 

Even though 4 out of 6 of us got sick from the food, I still rave about how good it was. The presentation, the flavors and the prices were all amazing! Next time though as good as it looks, skip the street meat ;)

Couldn't resist taking a picture with these cute little guys. Love them. We saw so many cute little animals during our trip!

We had the funnest time river rafting north of Cusco. Our guide was awesome and we made it down class 3 an 4 rapids like it was cake... even though the water was ice cold. Once we were done, we had the cutest Peruvian picnic on the side of the river. 

I quickly learned that Inca Kola is amazing, the country landscape is so diverse and that Cusco stretches was past the proper city limits.
