Baby B Birth

Okay I've been majorly slacking about posting about our new sweet bb!

So here's a quick birth story update...

Berkeley was due on March 21st. All my appointments leading up the last few weeks didn't show any progress, and it looked like we were going to have to schedule an induction.

I told my parents and David the induction, so they could plan their flights- since that would be the latest she would come.

I went in Tuesday afternoon March 20th for the regular weekly check up- I was at 40 weeks! Still no progress, so I scheduled an appointment for the following week. I wasn't expecting a baby anytime soon.

After the appointment I ran errands, got a bday present for Gma Jack. Aaron played basketball like he usually does on Tuesday nights.

And that's when it happened. I had just gotten out of the shower around 10:30 pm. I still felt wet. Changed my underwater... and I was leaking. So I texted Aaron.... "I think my water broke. I'm not in pain, but I'll just hang tight."

Then I started Googling.

Then I called my OB.

She said come in!

Then I texted Aaron. No response.

Then I called Aaron. No response.

Then I called Aaron again. No response.

...Luckily I was not in pain, so I started packing my things, and waited for Aaron to call/come home.

Finally he called back, he hurried home, showered and we were off to the hospital.

I didn't tell anyone at that points because I've heard of so many women with false alarms. By this time it was about midnight.

Sure enough, my water did break. This baby was coming!

We called my parents, and my mom booked the next flight out to SLC!

2-3 hours later, I started feeling contractions. The nurses said I could have the epidural whenever I wanted. I didn't want to be a wuss, so I suffered through about an hour of contractions. Finally I called in the epidural and all I can say is epidurals save lives.

Let me repeat: EPIDURALS SAVE LIVES!

We were able to sleep on and off between the nurses checking.

Spence and Lexi came up earlier that morning around 7.

My mom's flight got in around 10:15, it was getting close.

Around 9- 10 I was starting to feel lots of pressure. I thought the epidural was wearing off, but nope, that baby was ready to come!

I was so scared to start pushing. The fear of the unknown is so real! In hindsight everything was so smooth and we were so blessed, but in the moment, the unknown was scary!

In came all the supplies- scissors, gloves, bowls, needles and more.

My mom's plane had just landed, she was going to miss it, so she stayed on speaker phone with Lexi and facetime.

About 30ish minutes of pushing and sweet Baby B was here!

March 20th | 10:33 am | 6 lbs 13 oz | 19 1/4 inches long

15 minutes later and my mom came running in. She just missed it.

Luckily Lexi caught everything on camera! Before we knew it we were being whisked away to recovery.

The next few days were tiring, but full of love and support.

Spence and Lexi stayed for most of the time, brought treats and presents.

Chancen and Abbee came to visit.

Charlotte came.

Amy came.

Grandma came.

KAA sent the sweetest gift basket.

The hospital food was horrific, so my mom brought in food.

Later that night, we had Berkeley's ZERO birthday party. Her original birthday. We had a banner, cupcakes, party hats and sang to her.

It was such an exhausting but good day.

Can't say how blessed we are with all the support we have.

Welcome to the world Baby Berkeley!
